Culture Now: Bethan Laura Wood and Anna Lomax

Bethan Laura Wood and Anna Lomax recently collaborated for a project exhibited at the ICA. As a collector herself, Wood’s work springs from an interest in the connections we make with the objects that surround us every day. By re-contextualising elements from existing, everyday objects, combined with research into the constituent elements of a modern city, Wood creates new products which rediscover, explore and celebrate different attributes and aspects of the ‘mundane’. Anna Lomax, fascinated by the bizarre, pop-culture, folk art, pound shops and other peoples junk, intrigued by inventions, colour, movement and scale. Lomax works within the field of art direction and set design from small scale still life through to large scale installation using a range of mediums for varied clients.

These two have inspired me so much in terms of print. I can see similarities in this exhibition to Celine's SS14 and also references to pop art and 1980s fashion trends such as Body Map. Similar to the Prada piece I analysed earlier, I like the use of colour here, these two have perfectly teamed together pastel colours with accents of bold primary colours.
